What they wanted was a woman without a history of emotional  illness (I use the term emotional rather than mental, because I find mental illness misleading, as it has a connotation of mental retardation or damage) who is  not on hormonal birth control or pregnant. The environment I grew up in was not sexually suppressed – in fact I was the first to know about sexual reproduction amongst my peers and readily supplied them with my knowledge (in kinder garden). Somehow knowing about genital intercourse and how to use tampon and condom were considered enough though. The rest, I guess they hoped I would figure out myself.
